Joe and Ann Fischer moved to Dover in the winter of 2000 to open Fischers' Farm after spending about 30 years raising their 4 children.
They moved from Tillson NY in the Hudson Valley, where they had spent the previous 20 years. Although it is always difficult to move, they were excited to settle in Dover to start a new stage of their lives. Joe was born and raised in Maryland, so he was particularly pleased to return to the area. The first Christmas trees were planted in that same year
while Joe and Ann sold fruit, jams, jellies, and more at various farmers' markets. Once the Christmas trees started to grow, Joe and Ann started handcrafting wreaths. On November 24, 2006 the first Christmas trees went on sale.
